Seamless evening: the display link automatically follows to the next round

Set up the projector once and never touch it again: display links now stay valid after a round ends and show the final standings. When the follow-up round starts, every open display switches over automatically, no new link, no black screen. Plus a new one-click workflow: optionally define how many performers advance when setting up a round (now also without groups), and create the follow-up round directly from the advancing performers after finishing, prefilled in reversed placement, optionally merged from several preliminary rounds. A points tie for the last advancement spot is resolved with the usual tie-break.

    The homepage brings your slam to the stage

    You can now switch between standings, live scoring and the winner reveal right on the homepage. The larger display preview uses sample data to show what your evening could look like on stage. Clearer feature cards and refined spacing complete the familiar stage design.

    Feature roadmap: comments open to read, voting made clearer

    Comments on feature ideas can now be expanded and read on the public roadmap, even without an account. The toggle names the number of comments instead of only inviting you to write one. The vote button now carries a thumbs-up icon and an "Upvote" label so it is recognisable as a way to back an idea.

    Logo right-click menu now always stays fully visible

    The small brand menu on logo right-click now opens right below your cursor and nudges itself into view so it never gets cut off at the screen edge again.

    Display always shows the final standings after a round ends

    When ending a round, the live display could get stuck on the last selected screen, for example "on stage now" after an applause vote. The display now switches to the final overall standings automatically when the round ends, including placements, advancing performers and resolved tie-breaks.

    Applause rounds: one-click follow-up now picks up advancing performers

    Saved applause rankings were not treated as completed scores internally, so "End & create follow-up" could not prefill advancing performers from applause rounds. This now works just as reliably as with jury scoring.

    Our emails got a clean new design in the brand look, with the real logo and colors that hold up in dark mode. Also new: the brand page with logo downloads (SVG/PNG), copyable colors and usage rules. Tip: right-click the logo for a small brand menu.

    Ending rounds made easy

    Once all scores are locked, the live page now suggests ending the round on its own, including the follow-up round in one click if you like: "End & create follow-up" completes the round and opens the prefilled form with the advancing performers right away. In addition, every live round can now be ended directly from the round overview; a "Ready to end" hint shows there once all scores are locked. No need to hesitate: the display link stays valid and all results are preserved.

    Group rounds: tie-breaks for the advancement spot now work reliably

    When several groups had tied scores with an identical margin to their group winner, the system kept demanding new tie-breaks and the round could not be finished. It now works the way you would expect: first each group resolves its own tie, then only the best-placed candidates of each group face off in a direct duel for the open spot. The duel result actually counts for advancement, and the round can be completed normally afterwards. Since an advancement spot cannot be shared, "accept tie" is intentionally unavailable for this duel.

    Live display: group standings side by side, no scrolling, advancing performers in green

    The temporary and final overall standings now show groups as columns side by side instead of stacked. Rows scale automatically so everything always fits on a single screen, so nobody has to scroll on the projector anymore. In the final standings, advancing performers are additionally highlighted as a fully green box and group headings are centered, so the audience can see at a glance who made it.

    Feature guests can perform multiple times

    A feature guest can now have several appearances in the same round, for example before the competition starts, after the break and before the final. In the lineup editor the person simply stays selectable after being added and gets a separate slot in the running order for each appearance. Scored performers remain limited to one appearance per round as before.

    Accepted ties no longer appear on the projector

    Accepting a tie, for example for two non-advancing performers on places 5 and 6, no longer accidentally switches the projector. Accepting now happens silently in the background, the current display screen stays put and the shared place simply shows up in the next standings view.

    New home page: live stage, jury cards and real voices

    The home page has been completely redesigned. A dark stage panel with an animated live display instantly shows what a slam night with the tool looks like: score bars roll in, jury cards float alongside. Features now appear as a varied tile grid, and for the first time real organizers share in testimonial cards how the tool performs on stage.

    App area now fully available in English

    In the logged-in area, many pages were still shown in German even on English (/en), e.g. team management, competitions, participants, rounds, settings and profile. The whole dashboard now appears correctly in English when the English language is selected. In addition, the previously German-only "Settings" and "Profile" pages have been fully translated.

    Pause dialog: timer turns on automatically when you set a duration

    When you pick or type a duration in the pause dialog, "Show timer on display" is now enabled automatically, if you set a duration, you usually want to show the timer too. You can still uncheck it manually if you don't want a timer, or start the break via "Start without timer" as before.

    Live display shows the round name without the "Round N:" prefix

    On the live display (title, winner and "round ended/not started" screens) it used to say "Round 7: Final tiebreaker 2". Now we only show the round name itself, e.g. "Final tiebreaker 2", especially for tiebreaker and final rounds with high numbers, the leading "Round 7:" was rather confusing. The "round ended/not started" screen now also respects the "show round name on display" setting, just like the live screens, previously it showed the name even when it should have been hidden.

    Docs search stays closed after clicking a result

    In the guides, the Cmd+K search popped open again right after you clicked a result and jumped to the page. Now the search stays closed after the click, you land directly on the article without the search window reappearing.

    Storage cache extended: less bandwidth, same image freshness

    Background images on the live display, plus team, competition and sponsor logos are now kept in the browser and CDN cache for 1 year instead of just 1 hour. During slams with large audiences this saves noticeable bandwidth and storage egress. When you replace a logo, we append a cache buster (?v=timestamp) to the stored URL, new images therefore still appear instantly for every viewer, nobody is stuck with the old logo for a year.

    Language switcher keeps you on the same page when switching

    Previously, clicking "DE" on an English page with English URL slugs (e.g. /en/use-cases) led to a 404, because the German page uses a different slug (/de/anwendungsfaelle). The language switcher now translates the URL to match the target language and jumps directly to the German or English equivalent of the current page. Plus: all old URLs under /de/ and /en/ permanently redirect (301) to the correct slugs as a safety net, in case someone linked to an old URL.

    Notifications: "Recently read" section in the bell menu

    The notifications dropdown now has two sections: "New" for unread and "Recently read" for the last 5 read notifications. A mis-click no longer makes the notification disappear, it moves to "Recently read" and stays visible. The badge counter on the bell still only shows unread.

    English URL slugs for the English website

    All English pages now use English URL slugs: /en/use-cases instead of /en/anwendungsfaelle, /en/pricing instead of /en/preise, /en/scoring-check instead of /en/wertungs-check, /en/imprint, /en/privacy. The documentation under /en/docs/... also uses English paths (e.g. /en/docs/getting-started/create-account instead of /en/docs/erste-schritte/konto-anlegen). Existing links to the old URLs permanently redirect (301) to the new paths, so bookmarks, social media posts and Google results land smoothly on the new addresses. German URLs are unchanged.

    Gold/silver/bronze removed from group views

    In competitions with groups enabled, the top-3 highlighting (gold, silver, bronze) in the final standings and the live scoring controls was misleading, because with groups, advancement is not determined by position within the group but by the "Advances ✓" badge. The top-3 color highlighting is therefore removed in group views; only the "Advances" badge remains as a visual anchor. Classic final rankings without groups keep the gold/silver/bronze coloring as before.

    Background image display options are saved reliably

    When toggling the display options for the background image (title, pause, winner, final standings), the change could fail to reach the database if the page was reloaded right after the click. The cause was a 500 ms debounce before saving, which got cancelled by the reload. Saves now happen immediately; with multiple fast clicks, the final state is guaranteed to land in the database.

    Display preview and 6 stage backgrounds to download

    In the display settings you now see all the important live display screens (title, pause, standings, final standings, winner, sponsors) as small live-preview cards. Color and font changes update instantly. Plus: a collapsible section with 6 curated stage backgrounds (spotlights, bokeh, velvet and more) you can download, so you don't have to hunt or build them yourself.

    New dashboard with quick start, help and guides always within reach

    After login you now land on a dedicated dashboard with a greeting, a "Continue where you left off" block for your most recent competition, quick actions for a new slam, a glance at What's New and quick access to your teams. The header has a help menu with guides, changelog and feedback. Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) opens a fast full-text search across all guides without leaving the app workflow. The sidebar has a subtle Help & Guides block. New users see a friendly 3-step onboarding, pending team invitations now pulse in amber and are impossible to miss. Empty states in teams, competitions, performer pool and feedback link directly to the matching guide.

    Smooth fade between light and dark mode

    Switching between light and dark mode is now a smooth animation instead of a hard cut. The sun rotates smoothly into the moon, and all colors fade simultaneously. Touch users and people with reduced-motion preferences still get the instant switch.

    Several small annoyances in the logged-in area fixed

    Three annoyances cleaned up at once: the feedback list occasionally got stuck in a retry loop and never finished loading, the "Delete team" dialog logged HTML nesting warnings to the browser console, and the notification bell unintentionally shared a realtime channel across multiple tabs. All three are properly fixed.

    New docs hub with 52 pages, search and screenshots

    Brand new public documentation at /docs: 26 pages in German and 26 in English, organized in 9 sections from "Getting Started" to "Glossary". More than 30 screenshots walk through how you set up teams, configure competitions, score live, resolve tiebreakers, and run the display. Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) opens a fast full-text search across everything.

    Two-row navigation with smart auto-hide

    The public navigation now uses a slim sub-navigation on top (language, dark mode, live display icon) and the main navigation with logo and links below. Scrolling down hides the sub-navigation smoothly, scrolling up brings it back, the main navigation stays visible at all times.

    English pages now stay English, reliably

    Multiple language hiccups fixed in one go: clicks in the navigation on English pages occasionally jumped to the German variant (Privacy, Imprint, Scoring Check), and statically cached /en routes silently returned German content along with a German html lang attribute. Both fixed: locale resolution in the root layout reads the language reliably from request headers, and every statically rendered page calls setRequestLocale consistently. /en stays English now, wherever you click.

    "Reset all" on display design now asks for confirmation

    The "Reset all" button on the display design is now red as a destructive action and asks for confirmation first, including a list of what gets reset. It now really resets everything: light and dark mode, advanced settings, screen contents and the background image (including the image file in storage).

    Tie-breaker: smart resolution for vote ties

    When multiple participants have the same vote count in an X/O vote (e.g., Markus wins clearly, but Peter, Anna, and Sascha are tied with 1 vote each), there are now two options: "Accept shared places" or "Re-vote for the sub-tie group". The latter opens a new tie-breaker just for the tied participants, nestable to any depth.

    Tie-breaker for any number of participants

    The X/O tie-breaker now works for three or more tied participants. With two participants you can choose between letters (X/O) and number mode; with three or more it runs automatically in number mode, each participant gets their own number that jurors hold up. Defaults to 1, 2, 3, …, fully editable.

    When a round uses groups, the "Current ranking" list on the live scoring screen is now split per group. Each group shows its own 1st/2nd/3rd order, and advancing participants are marked with "Advances ✓".

    The supporter page previously listed only three features, while many more are actually unlocked. The overview is now grouped into four categories (Whitelabel & Branding, Design & Typography, Background & Layout, Visibility & Animations) and lists everything, from sponsor links to background images, confetti and fade transitions.

    Language switching fixed

    On the changelog and feedback form, content was always rendered in German regardless of the URL. The DE/EN switcher also occasionally landed on a 404 with a duplicated locale prefix. Both issues are fixed.

    Background as tab, live indicator, confetti timing

    The background image is now its own tab under "Advanced Settings" (alongside Appearance and Screen Content). Live rounds have a pulsing red border and a blinking Live badge so they stand out in the competition overview. Confetti now fires on the Final Standings screen (not only on the winner reveal).

    Round Groups

    Rounds can now be split into up to 3 groups. Each group is scored and ranked separately. The advancement configuration determines how many performers advance overall, with group-aware standings on the display.

    X/O Vote: faster data entry

    The X/O dialog now opens directly with the juror buttons, the separate assignment step is gone. Each juror has two buttons (X and O) side by side, one click per vote. A swap button in the top right flips the X/O assignment if needed.

    X/O Vote: neutral display

    In the X/O vote, performer names are now the focus. The X/O letters are just small hints in the top corner, and both cards are neutral gray before voting starts. Colors appear on the counter only when jurors actually vote. No side looks preferred before the first vote comes in.

    Tie-Breakers for Tied Scores

    When two or more performers end a round with exactly the same score, the dashboard now shows a warning and offers five resolution methods: without strike scores, applause voting, X/O vote, assign manually, or accept the tie. Each method comes with matching display screens for audience and jury. Only for jury scoring with strike.
