A
Advancement
The progression of performers from one round to the next. Relevant with groups, where you define how many performers advance per group.
Applause Ranking
A scoring method where the audience decides by applause. The host ranks the performers by volume. See Applause Ranking.
C
Competition
A container for an event. Contains one or more rounds, performers, and results. Has its own slug for public URLs.
D
Display PIN
A 6-digit alphanumeric code that lets audience members open the live display for a round. Similar to Kahoot. Automatically generated when a round goes live.
Drop Scoring
In jury scoring, the highest and/or lowest individual score is optionally removed from the average calculation. Balances out outlier scores.
F
Feature Guest
A person who performs but is excluded from the rankings. Typical: guest performers who put on a show between the regular acts. Feature guests receive scores on the display but do not appear in the standings.
G
Group
A subdivision of a round into multiple blocks. Performers are ranked separately per group. See Groups.
J
Jury Scoring
A scoring method where a fixed number of jurors assigns scores. The average (optionally after drop scoring) determines the final score. See Jury Scoring.
O
Overall Ranking
The combined result across all rounds of a competition. Shown on the display as a dedicated screen.
P
Performer
A person who performs in a round. Performers are managed in the performer pool and assigned to a round via the lineup.
R
Round
A single scoring unit within a competition. Each round has its own scoring method, its own lineup, and its own display PIN. A competition can have multiple rounds (e.g. preliminary, final).
S
Scorekeeper
The person currently entering scores in the live view. Only one scorekeeper can be active per competition at a time (automatic lock).
Supporter
An optional paid subscription that unlocks additional display customizations (custom colors, fonts, background image, animations). See Supporter.
T
Team
Your workspace in slam-voting.com. All competitions, performers, and settings are tied to a team. A team has members with different roles.
Tiebreaker
A procedure for resolving tied scores in jury scoring. Five methods are available: without drop scores, applause voting, X/O decision, manual, and accept tie. See Tiebreaker.
W
Wildcard
In group rounds, an additional advancement slot awarded to the best remaining performer across all groups. See Groups.
